Main EventsCookies with Mrs. Claus Saturday Admission: $35.00 Ennis Chamber of Commerce Join Lights of Ennis for a holiday experience during which children are warmly welcomed by Mrs. Claus herself to decorate their very own gingerbread cookie tree, complete with a variety of colorful candy embellishments. After crafting their edible masterpieces, Mrs. Claus will gather everyone for a cozy storytime, sharing enchanting tales that celebrate the spirit of the season. Photo ops will abound throughout the event. Tickets must be bought in advance.
Bethlehem Revisited Friday - Sunday Admission: free Central Presbyterian Church Walk through an imaginative recreation and combination of the birth narratives of the Books of Matthew and Luke in a totally immersive Christmastime experience that takes place for the first two weekends of December behind Central Presbyterian Church in Waxahachie. Volunteer actors, live animals, craftspeople and artisans all dressed to the hilt in ancient looking garb create the look, with Joseph and a pregnant Mary riding donkey-back searching for a room at the local inns (spoiler alert: there are no vacancies). Elf Movie Night in Maypearl Friday Admission: free Maypearl City Park Bundle up, grab a blanket and maybe some lawn chairs, and head over to the city that time forgot just on the outskirts of Waxahachie for a free showing of Elf, outdoors in the city park in 40-degree temperatures just like the Good Lord intended. The event is hosted by Friends of Maypearl, and concessions sold at the event will benefit the Maypearl I.S.D. Band Boosters. There is no street address for the park -- that's just how small the city is for all you newcomers who don't know. Yeti, It's Cold Outside Friday and Saturday Admission: $10.00 Nelson University -- Hagee Communications Center In this comedy play written by Nelson University Alumnus Kevin Roberts, a family and scientists searching for Bigfoot get trapped together by a snowstorm, and mayhem ensues.
Family Christmas Craft Session Monday Ennis Public Library Admission: free, no library card needed Join the library for a free, come-and-go holiday event featuring family-oriented crafts such as: make your own ornament, build a picture frame, color a headband, write a letter to Santa, and more. Christmas Concert and Santa and the Grinch Photo Op Monday Ennis High School Admission: $5.00 donation Santa and the Grinch (who stole Christmas, remember him?) will appear at Ennis High School for a memorable photo opportunity while the choir sings your favorite Christmas songs. Proceeds benefit the Ennis High School Choir. Free Pictures with Santa Tuesday Ennis State Bank Admission: free Santa Claus is coming to Ennis State Bank! Get one printed 4-inch x 6-inch photo and a digital copy of your photo sent via email, free of charge. Continuing:DeSoto on Ice December 3 – December 21 December 22 – January 7 (Extended Holiday Hours) Holiday Hours Admission: $15 per ice skater, for one full hour, including skates. DeSoto Town Center Ice skate during the holiday season at the DeSoto On Ice Skating Rink. This event is a family-friendly way to get into the holiday spirit, even on unseasonably warm evenings. Skaters must be at least 4 years old to skate. Rental skate sizes start at baby size 8 and continue up to adult men size 13. Whether you are an expert skater or a first-timer, the rink promises fun for everyone.
